The Joseph Albert Hekimian Legacy Fund Principals recognize the volunteerism can play an important role in substance abuse addiction recovery. Volunteering in the community is an excellent way for individuals in recovery to generate goodwill withing the community, reinforce their positions as valuable members of the community, learn new skills, make professional connections and to enhance their resumes. All of this can be done with minimal pressure and during flexible hours- usually.
The following list is of agencies in Montgomery and Frederick Counties that rely on Volunteers from the community. The Joseph Albert Hekimian Legacy Fund Principals invite all persons, especially those working through addiction recovery, to explore these categorized volunteer opportunities. This list was developed by one of our Researchers, Ms. Stacie Alisea. A downloadable (.pdf) version of this list is available at the bottom of this page.
